San Antonio police: Suspect tried to bury gun while fleeing police near Park Square Apartments

San Antonio police: 2 men caught smoking marijuana on East Park Avenue, one tried to hide gun while fleeing officers

SAN ANTONIO - Two men were arrested early Thursday morning near the Park Square Apartments after they attempted to run from San Antonio police, and one suspect was caught trying to bury a gun in front of a home.

San Antonio police officers were called to the apartment complex in the 800 block of East Park Avenue around 1 a.m. because of a report for suspicious individuals.

Police arrived and saw both suspects smoking what appeared to be marijuana. The suspects saw officers and fled on foot and were tracked down a few blocks away at the corner of East Quincy Street and Newell Avenue.

San Antonio police said one of the suspects was attempting to bury the gun. The same individual had a warrant for possession of an illegal gun. San Antonio police said he also had drugs and surgical gloves with him. 

According to San Antonio police, he faces charges for evading arrest, possession of a controlled substance and possession of firearm without a license.

The other suspect faces charges for evading arrest, San Antonio police said.
