Ronald Dewayne Tate, 56, accused of forging, cashing check worth $4,500 from elderly man

San Antonio police: Elec­tricity, cable bill debited from victim's account to Ronald Tate's wife


Ronald Dewayne Tate, 56, is accused of forging and cashing a check worth $4,500 from an elderly victim. according to an arrest affidavit.

Tate was arrested on Oct. 5 following a lengthy investigation by San Antonio police.

An arrest warrant affidavit stated Tate forged an 86-year-old man's signature and deposited the check into a bank account.

The affidavit stated the victim's wife noticed the missing money and told San Antonio police the check was passed without her consent.

She also told police her husband was in the hospital during the time the check was deposited.

The affidavit stated an electricity and cable bill were also debited from the elderly man's account on behalf of Tate's wife.

San Antonio police tracked down Tate and reviewed surveillance video of him depositing the check into an account, the affidavit stated.

Ronald Dewayne Tate was charged with check forgery of the elderly.

Two more checks were stolen and cashed from the victim as well, however, the affidavit did not state if an arrest had been made in connection with those transactions.
