Investigators said the beating stemmed from a dispute at a pool hall weeks earlier.

According to a police report, two of the suspects cornered Romero as he was leaving the store, then a third suspect threw Romero to the ground and all three started beating him.

A witness told police he did not hear or see any type of altercation before the assault.

According to the police report, Romero was not just outmatched, he was also much smaller than his attackers.

The three suspects are all described as being about 6 feet tall and weighing 250 pounds. Romero was 5 feet 5 inches and 120 pounds.

Romero was rushed to the University hospital, but died during surgery, San Antonio police said.

Police said the assault was caught on surveillance video, but no arrests have been made.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 224-STOP. Crime Stoppers is offering up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
