Halloween is just around the corner.
The J.W. Marriott, on the city’s North side, dressed up their lobby with a 1,500-pound pumpkin they brought in from Pennsylvania.
“Oh my gosh, that is impressive," said a visitor from California of the pumpkin.
There are also many pumpkin patches springing up around town.
One of those patches is located at the University United Methodist Church, where the Villarreal family stopped by for pictures on Thursday afternoon.
Penelope, at just a year old, was decked out in her pumpkin pants and shirt.
"She is definitely in the spirit,” said Chris, Penelope’s dad.
Brewer Elementary School is also getting ready. For the tenth year, school personnel and teachers are decorating a fun house for the kids.
"It’s something they all look forward too," said Keri Kinsey, a Brewer Elementary social worker.
The gym has a pumpkin room, clown room and room of illusions -- among others. It also open to the community.
"We have a lot of folks show up there is a long line out front and they are waiting and ready to go," Kinsey said.
The fun house helps raise money for the school's PTA.
