Man pistol whipped during attempted robbery on West Commerce

Suspect sought in west San Antonio assault; Victim taken to University Hospital

SAN ANTONIO - A man listening to music in his SUV was pistol whipped during an attempted robbery on the West Side early Monday morning.

San Antonio police responded to the assault around 2 a.m. in the 21000 block of West Commerce.

The victim told San Antonio police the suspect approached him with a gun and demanded cash, then struck him.

San Antonio police said the victim suffered heavy blood loss and was taken to University Hospital for treatment.

San Antonio police said it was not clear if the suspect took any money or property from the victim. The suspect fled and police were not given a clear description of the man.
