Older-model Jeeps recalled for air bag problem
LG ranges, Graco gliders, Sauder chairs, Nesquik recalled
Chrysler recalled more than 919,000 older-model Jeeps to repair a problem with the air bags unexpectedly inflating while the SUV is being driven.
The recall involves Grand Cherokees from the 2002 through 2004 model years and Jeep Liberty models from 2002 and 2003.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said the problem was with a computer part in the air bag control system. An investigation by the agency found that air bags went off 215 times, causing minor injuries but no crashes.
Chrysler will contact owners beginning in January and will repair the problem.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission www.cpsc.gov announced the recall of 161,000 LG electric ranges.
The burners can fail to turn off properly and the temperature can increase while the cooktop is in use.
Five models are involved and all have a smooth black ceramic glass cooktop. They were sold at Best Buy, Sears, Home Depot and others between 2006 and 2010. Owners should contact LG for a free repair.
Check your pantry for Nestle Nesquik. Nestle recalled about 200,000 canisters of chocolate drink mix because of possible salmonella contamination.
The product involved is in 10.9, 21.8 and 40.7-ounce canisters and have a "Best if sold by" date of October 2014 on the bottom.
No illnesses have been reported. Consumers should return the product for a full refund.
If you sit behind a desk at the office or at home, check that chair. Sauder Woodworking Company recalled 70,000 of its Gruga chairs because the seat plate can break.
Pictures of the 31 models involved can be seen at www.sauder.com.
In another chair recall, Graco is pulling nearly 40,000 of its Avalon and Katelyn rocker gliders from the market. The chair base can crack.
The Avalon was sold at major retailers since December 2009 and the Katelyn was old at Walmart.com for the past year. Several models are affected. Consumers should contact the manufacturer, www.lajobi.com/recalls/glider-rocker/index.php.
