Family of man killed in drive-by, Joe Richard Santos, shares message for shooter

Santos, 30, shot multiple times on Remolino Street

SAN ANTONIO - Joe Richard Santos, 30, was shot twice in the legs and eight times in his chest, according to his family, last Wednesday on the 200 block of Remolino Street.

San Antonio Police say the shooting happened after Santos was involved in an argument with men down the street.

“My mother is taking it so hard. She is not the same,” said Edward Garcia, Santos’ older brother. “That was her baby."

According to police, the shots were fired by someone in a silver Chevy Malibu.

Shots were fired at Santos and at a home where he was temporarily staying. A 2-year-old girl inside that house was shot in the wrist, but survived.

“I asked my brother 'hey, come home, come home.' And he said ‘yeah, I'll probably end up doing that.’ But that never happened,” said Garcia.

Santos had a history of drug charges, but his family says he turned his life around, had a steady a job, and was baptized.

But now he's gone and his brother is left with a message for his killer.

"There's one ultimate judge you have to answer to and that's God,” Garcia said. “And we're leaving this in God's hands.”

Santos leaves behind three young children.

The toddler who was wounded was not his child.
