Man shot in face, leg drives to East Side Chevron station for help

Victim shot at home on Belmont Street, suspect on loose

SAN ANTONIO - A man was shot twice after an argument at a East Side home, and drove himself to a gas station for help Monday evening.

San Antonio police said shots were fired around 7:20 p.m. in the 300 block of Belmont Street.

The victim was shot in the face and leg and drove his truck to a nearby Chevron station at Interstate 35 North and New Braunfels Avenue.

"It didn't cause any muscle or bone damage so he was able to maintain some focus," said Sgt. Brian Custard with the San Antonio Police Department.

The victim was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center and is expected to recover.
The shooter fled, but police said they have a description of the suspect.
