SAN MARCOS, Texas - A Texas State University student, identified by San Marcos police as Jake Thomas Waldrep, 20, was arrested Tuesday on charges of manufacturing more than a dozen fake IDs.

Waldrep, a sophomore engineering major, is being charged with 14 counts of delivery or manufacture of a counterfeit instrument.

Each offense is a third-degree felony punishable between two and 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.

The doorman of a San Marcos bar alerted the San Marcos Police Department more than a month ago when a person attempted to enter the bar with a counterfeit temporary driver's license, police said.

After the month-long investigation, SMPD Officer Tiffany Williams was able to identify Waldrep as the suspected creator of the fake IDs.
