Burglars target west side church
Church broken into 3 times in 3 weeks
SAN ANTONIO - A West side church congregation is asking for a little help from the community after their church was broken into three different time within the last three weeks.
"We would just like for whoever is in the neighborhood just to keep an eye open (and) to make sure that this doesn't happen again," said Rosie Rodriguez, church treasurer.
The first of the three break-ins happened three weeks ago. The burglars took a brand new AC unit at their fellowship hall.
Church members replaced it right away, but on Tuesday, the burglars managed to take the AC unit at the fellowship hall again and they also took a second AC unit at the church.
And on Wednesday night, when church members showed up for bible study, they discovered that the church had been hit again.
"I noticed that the last unit had been broken into and stolen," said Rodriguez. "Then we also went inside the sanctuary and found that they had taken our PA system, our microphones, our DVD player."
Rodriguez said that's a total of four units stolen.
Three of them will have to be replaced, costing them $2,000 each.
"I know that God is good and God does provide," she said. "And eventually, we will get our three units running, hopefully, before the summer gets here."
If you have any information on these break-ins, you are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 224-STOP.
