SAN ANTONIO - San Antonio home sales in October rose 19 percent since October 2011, according to a Multiple Listing Service report by the San Antonio Board of REALTORS (SABOR).

Since October 2011, the average price of a home went up seven percent and the median price went up four percent, SABOR said.

SABOR's chairman of the board, Liza Reyes, said that the low interest rates and steady local economy have helped San Antonio's market far very well this year.

This year, San Antonio has averaged 96 percent of homes sold for list price while other markets have seen extreme lows.

SABOR's president and CEO, Angela Shields, said that while sellers are benefiting from the increased equity in their homes, prices are still reasonable enough for buyers entering the market.
