Man struck, killed by car on Loop 1604 after argument at Northwest Side bar
San Antonio police: Victim was denied entry into bar, ran across Loop 1604
SAN ANTONIO - A 31-year-old man was struck and killed by a car while running across a busy highway after he reportedly became upset because he was denied entry into a Northwest Side bar early Thursday morning.
San Antonio police said the victim was struck by at least three vehicles on Loop 1604 at Northwest Military Drive.
Witnesses told police the man was not allowed in a bar at The Ridge shopping center and got into an argument with a friend.
He took off on foot and crossed the westbound lanes of 1604, jumped over the center median and was struck by a car on the eastbound lanes of the highway.
The driver of the car that initially struck the man stopped, but two more vehicles ran him over, San Antonio police said.
The man died at the scene. His name has not been released. San Antonio police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, but believe alcohol was a factor.
