The bodies of Patricia Peek, 68, and her brother, Keith Tanner, 51, of Austin, were discovered at Peek's home in the 200 block of Fawn Ridge in the Deer Creek subdivision.

According to a Cibolo Police Department news release, a co-worker became concerned when Peek failed to show up at work Monday morning and went to check on her around 10 a.m.

"She found the front door ajar and called police," said Cibolo Police Chief Gary Cox. "When officers arrived, they checked the residence and inside they found a white female."

Peek was found inside the home and Tanner was discovered in the back yard.

Police declined to release any additional information about their deaths, pending autopsy results. However, Cox said there's no reason for neighbors to worry.

"There's no danger to the community. We are satisfied that this was an isolated incident related to a family matter," Cox said. "There was some sort of domestic violence incident, domestic dispute, that resulted in the death of both parties."

Cox would not speculate about the nature of the dispute, and said detectives plan to speak with other relatives to find out what had transpired during the last few days of their lives.

According to next-door neighbor Bill Lynch, Peek had just celebrated Thanksgiving with a house full of relatives. Police said they're not sure whether Tanner was among family members who were visiting for the weekend.

Lynch said he did not notice anything out of the ordinary in the hours before the bodies were discovered. News of the deaths came as a surprise to him.

"I went to play golf and I came back home, and there's crime scene tape all over the place," Lynch said, noting that he had not seen Peek since the day before Thanksgiving.

Cox said he would release additional details about the case as soon as Tuesday afternoon.
