San Antonio Powerball buyers dream about how to spend millions
Jackpot hits $550 million
SAN ANTONIO - As of Wednesday at noon, the Powerball jackpot had reached $550 million dollars, giving people buying tickets in San Antonio lots to dream about.
But most people who were buying tickets in the Alamo City said they'd help others with the money rather than buying any big-ticket items.
"I would help people that helped me," Ronald Batiste said.
Rodney Valdez said he wouldn't even be able to spend all the money if he tried.
"I'm not going to live long enough to spend it all, so my kids will be taken care of. Their kids will be taken care of," he said.
"I would give some to my church and donate and then retire early," Mandie Ramalho said.
She is really hoping to strike it rich by buying tickets in bulk.
"We did 10 Quick Picks and 40 of our own numbers," Ramalho said.
Her pool of eight family members bought a total of 100 tickets.
Khamp Chantadara is also setting up a pool, but his is for 20 people at work.
"Everybody thinks I'm lucky, so that's why I buy them," he said.
He's been running a pool for a while now, so he has rules, like everyone who wants in has to pay cash up-front.
"There's no credit," he said.
