Soldier surprises son at school

Family looks forward to spending holidays together

SAN ANTONIO - A heartwarming surprise homecoming took place at Oak Grove Elementary school on Tuesday morning.

Staff Sgt. Jesse Keller came home from finishing a nine-month tour in Qatar in the Persian Gulf and decided to surprise his son, who is a first-grade student at the school.

Ethan Keller's teacher told him news cameras would be at the school to to a story about the school's Watchdog Program.

When Ethan realized his father was there, his face broke out in a huge smile and he ran towards his father yelling, "Daddy!"

"I'm happy he's done fighting the bad guys," said Ethan. "I missed him a lot. I miss playing with him."

Ethans' mother, Shawna Keller, said having her husband away was hard on the whole family.

She said Ethan would ask about his father every day.

"I drove him to school this morning and he asked about when he would be home, so it was hard to keep the secret," said Shawna.

The family is looking forward to spending the holidays together.

"It's going to be a great holiday," said Keller. "The family's back together. Can't ask for much more than that."
