San Antonio police officer injured in crash on Medical Drive
Officer taken to hospital with serious injuries, other driver suffers minor injuries
SAN ANTONIO - A San Antonio police officer responding to a routine call was injured when he lost control of his patrol car and crashed into a pickup truck on Medical Drive around 3 a.m. Monday.
The officer suffered serious injuries and the other driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, San Antonio police said.
Investigators said the officer did not have his siren lights on, and lost control of the patrol car after he hit a slick spot on the road.
"As he was regaining control of his vehicle, he struck a curb. After he struck a curb, it pushed him into the other lane of traffic. There was a truck traveling west-bound that he slid into," San Antonio police Officer Matt Porter said.
The driver of the truck was preparing to turn into an apartment complex when she was struck.
San Antonio police have not said how fast the officer was driving before the crash.
Police investigators said the officer has been on the force for close to two years. The officer's name has not been released.
