Man answers door, shot several times at West Side home
San Antonio police: Victim argued with gunman prior to shooting
SAN ANTONIO - A West Side man was shot several times Tuesday night after he answered a knock at the door of his home located in the 4000 Block of El Paso.
San Antonio Police Sgt. David Pruitt said the incident started around 8:30 p.m. when the victim answered a knock at the door.
The man in his mid-20’s stepped outside to talk to the visitor and then got into a “spirited debate” with the suspect.
At some point in the confrontation, the suspect pulled out a handgun and fired off about a dozen shots. The victim was hit several times in the torso and took one shot to his face.
The victim’s brother and a friend were inside the home when the shots were fired.
The two men rushed outside where they found the victim in the front yard.
The witnesses told investigators they saw a light colored Ford Mustang leaving the area shortly after the shots were fired.
The victim was transported to University Hospital in critical but stable condition.
