Traveling families fill San Antonio International Airport on Christmas Eve
Fliers taking last-minute flights to see loved ones
SAN ANTONIO - Travelers are heading to San Antonio International Airport as they try to get to their loved ones in time for Christmas.
"Three-quarters of (this) bag is presents," said Susan Whittlesey, who ws headed to Doha, Qatar, to visit her grandkids on Monday morning.
She'll arrive in the Middle East just in time for Christmas, so she had a lot of gifts with her.
"I did books, but you know, upon second thought, I only get 50 pounds, so they take up the 50 pounds," Whittlesey said.
Next year, she said she plans to bring fewer books.
Suzanne Miller was headed to Phoenix to see her grandkids, but she expects Saint Nick to handle the gift-giving.
"They were here with us for Thanksgiving, but now we're going to see them, because ... it's hard for Santa Claus to find them if they're not at home," Miller said.
Ashley Brown was keeping a close eye on delays because she still had a long trip ahead before she could see her family in Columbus, Ohio.
"I was told that there would be a snow storm in Ohio, so I was nervous about that," she said.
Ashley Hughes said even if it's a hectic time to travel, it's worth it.
"It's the best time. It's Christmas. You have to spend time with your family on Christmas," she said.
