Driver slams into West Side apartments on Callagyhan Road
San Antonio police: Driver hit gas instead of brake, no injuries reported
SAN ANTONIO - An apartment on the West Side needs more than a little bit of a patch job after a car slammed into it Tuesday afternoon. Investigators said the accident happened around 2:30 p.m. in the 1100 block of Callaghan.
According to police, the driver hit the gas pedal instead of the brake and backed right into the building.
The impact of the collision pushed a bed inside across the room and knocked bricks from the exterior wall.
The woman who lives there says she just left that room right before the car hit.
"I had been ironing, and the ironing board's right in front of the window," said Maria Ortiz. "I was all shook up. I was shaking. I'm still kind of shook up."
Neither Ortiz nor the driver were injured.
Crews sealed off the hole in the wall and it is unknown if the driver was ticketed.
