Man shot outside nightclub

Police: Fight inside The Falls nightclub led to shooting in parking lot

SAN ANTONIO - A night out at the bar ended with a man getting shot after a fight inside a Northside club.

San Antonio police said the victim was shot after he was kicked out of The Falls nightclub located in the 200 block of West Bitters.

Sgt. Javier Salazar said shortly after 2 a.m. Wednesday, police got a call for shots fired in the parking lot outside the nightclub. The shooting was apparently the result of fight that started inside the club.

"Indications are that it started inside the club," Salazar said. "When they were kicked out it continued in the parking lot."

Salazar said he wasn't sure what that fight was about but it involved two groups of men who got into it with each other inside one of the bathrooms inside the club.

Bouncers managed to break up the fight and kicked out all the men who were involved.

One group got into their vehicle and attempted to leave the area only to be followed by the second group of men who they gave chase.

"The second vehicle, it appears, began shooting into the first vehicle and the passenger was struck one time in the hip," Salazar said.

The car with the gunshot victim ended up at Loop 410 and NW Military Drive. The victim was offered treatment from paramedics but reportedly refused.

The man showed up at local hospital a short time later seeking treatment. He was not cooperating with police.

The same parking lot has been the scene of other violent incidents in the past year, including a fatal hit and run in November 2011 and a stabbing earlier this year.

Salazar said officers have responded to 67 calls for service at the shopping center that houses the nightclub since Jan. 1, but he didn't know how many of the calls directly involved the nightclub.
