San Antonio murder suspect arrested, baby found safe
Jonathan Jose Guillen also suspected of abducting 11-month-old son
SAN ANTONIO - San Antonio police arrested a man accused of murder, and suspected of abducting his own 11-month-old son.
A tip sent in to Crime Stoppers led investigators to a house in the 200 block of Carmen Street. There, they found 23-year-old Jonathan Jose Guillen in the back room, said San Antonio Police Officer Matt Porter.
His 11-month-old son, Jonathan Jose Guillen Jr., was with him. Guillen Senior turned the baby over to a police sergeant, and was taken into custody without incident.
As he was being led away by police, Guillen told reporters on the scene, "I just want to say I love my infant son."
Police suspect the elder Guillen of shooting and killing his mother's boyfriend, 44-year-old Ernest Garcia, during an argument Dec. 13 at an apartment in the 2300 block of Austin Highway.
Guillen's mother told police that Garcia hit her and Guillen pulled a gun and shot Garcia eight times.
She claims Guillen then picked up his young son and ran out of the apartment.
San Antonio Police issued an Amber Alert for the child on Dec. 17.
The child was placed in the care of a family member until Child Protective Services determines a custody plan.
