Convicted sex offender back in jail after skipping out on work release program

Bexar County jail officials claim Horace Drewry took unau­thorized leave

SAN ANTONIO - Convicted sex offender Horace Drewry, 56, is accused of breaking the law again by taking an unauthorized leave from a Bexar County jail work release program.  

Drewry was arrested in connection with the violation Wednesday.

An arrest warrant affidavit stated that Drewry had served seven years in prison in Georgia for a 1994 case of indecency with a child that happened there.

According to the affidavit, he became involved in a program in Bexar County in September of this year, as part of his probation.

It allows him to leave jail during the day to got to work, but report back to jail by 6 p.m.

The affidavit stated that although Drewry was aware of the rules, he left the jail Dec. 17 and did not return.

The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office obtained a warrant for his arrest and took him into custody.
