SAN ANTONIO - A fireworks hotline for the New Year's Eve holiday will remain active until 6 a.m. on Jan. 2.
Residents of unincorporated Bexar County may call 210-335-FIRE (3473) if they feel fireworks are being dangerously or illegally used.
Although there are no restrictions on the sale or use of fireworks in the county, it is always illegal to discharge fireworks within 600 feet of a hospital, sanitarium, veterinary hospital, school or church. It is also illegal to discharge fireworks within 100 feet of a fuel dispensing station for flammable liquids or combustible liquids and at or from a motor vehicle.
If an actual medical or fire emergency results from the use of fireworks, call 911.
Bexar County is under a ban on outdoor burning, which means residents may not burn any materials outside of a burn barrel or device meant to contain burning material, such as a charcoal grill or chimenea.
