Heavy rains cause sewer spill on Northwest side

SAWS: Heavy rains result in spill greater than 100,000 gallons

SAN ANTONIO - The San Antonio Water System says crews are responding to a sewer overflow that was caused by heavy rain infiltration on the Northwest side.

Due to the recent heavy rains, the SAWS said the sewer main, located between Texas Highway 151 east of Military Drive West downstream along Leon Creek to Marbach Road, has resulted in a spill of greater than 100,000 gallons.

Because of the high water flow from rains in the creek, authorities said no adverse impacts have been observed.

SAWS said crews will continue to monitor the area.

Customers are encouraged to contact SAWS at 704-SAWS (7297) to report water and sewer main breaks on a 24-hour basis.
