Wanted suspect Jason Pinero arrested nearly a year after murder
Jason Pinero accused of killing Juan Pablo Ramirez last January after argument over woman
SAN ANTONIO - Jason Pinero, 28, a man wanted for murder, has been arrested nearly a year after the crime on San Antonio’s West Side. Pinero was taken into custody Wednesday on a charge of murder.
San Antonio police believe he shot and killed Juan Pablo Ramirez, 25, in a parking lot in the 2600 block of W. Commerce Street on Jan. 29 of last year.
Detectives at the time said the suspect and victim had been fighting over a woman just before Ramirez was shot dead.
Officers found him slumped over the wheel of his car with a gunshot wound to the head. From the start, police have said they knew who their suspect was.
However, it wasn’t until last May that they released Pinero’s name, along with an appeal to the public asking anyone who knew his whereabouts to contact them.
An arrest warrant affidavit related to the case did not mention whether investigators had received any significant information from that appeal, or whether any tips might have played a role in Pinero’s arrest.
Pinero was booked into the Bexar County jail with bond set at $250,000.
