Man accused of stabbing wife in front of young children

Police take suspect into custody at home on Barrera Street, wife expected to recover

SAN ANTONIO - A woman was hospitalized after San Antonio police say she was stabbed by her husband in front of their young children early Friday morning.

San Antonio police and paramedics responded to a home in the 200 block of Barrera Street around 5 a.m., but investigators said the woman was stabbed at a different home and taken to the Barrera Street location along with the couple's two children.

Police said the suspect holed himself in the home with the children, ages 4 and 6, for a short time. However, officers kicked in the door and took the husband into custody.

The children were not injured and the suspect's wife was expected to recover, police said.

San Antonio police said they would interview the oldest child about the incident.

No further details were available on where or what time the alleged stabbing occurred.
