Resorts, amusement parks hiring for spring season

J.W. Marriott Resort job open house Saturday

SAN ANTONIO - The vacancy sign is out at the J.W. Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort and Spa.  But what they are looking to fill are jobs.

The resort will host an informational job open house from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday at 23808 Resort Pkwy.

"Our goal is to hire about 150 different positions," said Human Resources Director Cristina Besosa. "We look forward to a very busy spring and summer, and that's why we have so many positions coming open."

The positions include cooks, bakers, security, bartenders, lifeguards and spa personnel. Pay begins at about $11 an hour, according to Besosa.

People can apply online before the job fair or apply at the event.

"Perhaps you're not sure what the front office does or what food and beverage does, so you'll be able to talk to some of the experts to understand what our jobs are about and hopefully be inspired to apply for a position."

They are not the only ones gearing up for a spring fling.

As the weather warms, home improvement projects and gardening are on a lot of to-do lists.  Lowe's has posted several openings for seasonal jobs on its website.

Amusement parks will open for the new season soon.  Seaworld has posted openings for seasonal positions like games technicians, camp counselor and beverage server.  Many of the jobs pay about $9 an hour.

Six Flags Fiesta Texas is also gearing up to hire for its new season.
