A woman accused of stealing almost $70,000 from an elderly woman she was supposed to be caring for has been arrested.

Charmaine Barcenas, 31, is charged with exploitation of the elderly and theft from the elderly.

An arrest affidavit stated Barcenas forged 50 checks and withdrew money from an 86-year-old woman's bank accounts.

San Antonio police began their investigation in late October after the victim reported more than $46,000 had been withdrawn from her account without her permission.

The affidavit stated Barcenas deposited the checks into two Bank of America accounts that belonged to her and her husband.

Barcenas was identified by the victim and arrested after a two month investigation.
