Police seek Rios Food Mart robbery suspect

SAN ANTONIO - The San Antonio Police Department is asking for the public's help in identifying a food mart robbery suspect.

According to authorities, the man robbed the Rios Food Mart at 5711 South Zarzamora on Thursday, Jan. 24.

Investigators said the man pretended he was going to buy a few beers before whipping out a revolver. According to police, he pointed the gun at a store employee and demanded money in Spanish. Next, he told a second victim to give him all her money in English.

Police said witnesses told investigators the suspect grabbed the register drawer and pulled it out to make sure no money was left.

According to investigators, an employee said they believe the suspect is a regular customer since he spoke in Spanish, the only language the employee speaks.

Police said the thief headed west on Milvid and then drove away in a car with a second unknown suspect.

Crime Stoppers said it will pay up to $5000 for information that leads to the arrest of the person responsible for the crime.

Anyone with any information on the identity or the whereabouts of the suspect is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 210-224-STOP (7867).
