About 16,000 San Antonians will be voting in a different precinct come city elections this May.

A redistricting plan voted on by City Council is now starting to go into effect, most of it driven by population growth on the North side.

The Bexar County Election Department said 51 new precincts were created city-wide, bringing the total to 712.

And for some, that means you are now represented by a new City Councilperson.

Certain voters in every district were affected, so how do you know if you're one of them?

"Now we have to go in and make sure that we pick up every voter and move that voter, said Jacque Callanen, Bexar County elections commissioner. "Once that's all done and proofed, then we will actually mail out new voter registration cards."

And those cards should arrive to affected households by early March, well in time for early voting.
