Mother, child vanish after leaving west San Antonio home

Natalie Perez, child never arrived at destination

SAN ANTONIO - A San Antonio family is asking for help in finding a missing woman and her child, who were last seen in their neighborhood near Commerce and General McMullen.

Natalie Perez, 19, and her 22-month-old daughter, Hazel Rodriguez, have been missing since Feb. 1, when the two left their West Side home en route to a neighborhood convenience store.

According to family members, the mother and child never made it to their destination, Randall Food Mart, located about two blocks away.

“It's not far at all. We talked to the store clerk,” said Natalie’s sister, Eva Perez. “She never got there, and she was really worried as well, since she's a regular there.”

The family began working with the Heidi Search Center on Monday, and have also posted flyers around their neighborhood, hoping someone has seen Natalie and her child.

“I don't know what to believe. She's not with her friends, we've been sharing things on Facebook, calling friends, and we haven't heard anything from her," said Perez. “All we want is for her to let us know that she's OK.”

Because Natalie is legally an adult, the Perez Family says she is not classified as a runaway, and have filed a missing persons report with the San Antonio Police Department.
