Pickup trucks collide on Lombrano Street, 1 driver arrested after fleeing scene

A violent crash between two pickup trucks on the West Side sent two people to the hospital and led to the arrest of a driver.

San Antonio police said just after 1 a.m. Wednesday, the driver of a silver pickup truck headed west on Lombrano ran a stop sign and T-Boned a red pickup truck on Navidad Street.

The impact of the crash sent both trucks into separate front yards. Residents heard the crash and pulled the driver out of the silver truck. He was taken to hospital with head injuries, but was expected to recover.

Police said the driver of the red truck fled the scene and left his passenger behind, but was caught a few blocks away.

Police took him into custody after they determined he was driving while intoxicated.

The passenger in the red truck was transported to a hospital with unknown injuries.

San Antonio police have not announced charges against the DWI driver or the driver at fault.
