ECISD students injured in bus accident

Bus hit by truck sends drivers, students to hospital

SAN ANTONIO - Three people, including one child, were injured Thursday afternoon when a truck collided with an East Central ISD school bus.

The accident happened around 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of Southeast Military Drive and Emory Oak.

Investigators said the bus was making a left turn into a subdivision when it was hit by a green truck. The impact caused the bus to hit another car that was coming out of the subdivision.

East Central ISD Police Chief George Dranowksy, Jr. said 30 middle school aged kids were on the bus, but only a handful sustained injuries.

"We had 4 students that were on the bus that are being looked at by San Antonio EMS right now as a precaution," Dranowsky said. "Right now it looks like scrapes and bumps but we're not taking any chances with them, we're having them looked at."

One student was transported to a hospital for treatment.

The drivers of the truck and the car were also transported to a hospital, one of them was in critical condition.

So far, no charges have been filed but the investigation continues.
