Family of wrong-way crash victim sues driver, bar

Shauna Ripley accused of driving wrong-way, hitting car of Jorge Baldillo

The family of a man killed by a wrong-way driver, who was also accused of driving while intoxicated, filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the driver and the bar they say served her alcohol that evening.

The family of Jorge Badillo Jr. filed a lawsuit against Shauna Ripley, 29, and the La Bikina bar on St. Mary's Street.

Police said Ripley was headed the wrong-way on Highway 151 near Callaghan Road when she struck Baldillo's car head-on on Oct. 26. Ripley was arrested and charged with intoxication manslaughter.

Baldillo's family contends in the lawsuit the staff at the bar knew Ripley was intoxicated, but continued to serve her alcohol and allowed her to leave on her own.

Baldillo's widow, daughter and parents were all named plaintiffs in the lawsuit.
