2 women stabbed during brawl outside west San Antonio restaurant

Tensions flared after man showed up to El Torreon restaurant with new girlfriend

Two women were stabbed after a brawl broke out at a west San Antonio restaurant early Wednesday morning.

San Antonio police were called to El Torreon Mexican restaurant on Culebra Road around 2 a.m. for a reported fight that involved a dozen people.

Officers found the two victims lying on the ground with stab wounds, however, everyone else involved fled the scene and witnesses scattered.

Investigators questioned a few people who said the brawl started when a man showed up with his new girlfriend at the restaurant.

Witnesses said the family of the man's ex-girlfriend, a woman who had just passed away, was also at the restaurant. Tensions flared between the two groups and the fight broke out.

Police said the investigation was ongoing and no arrests had been announced. The two women who were stabbed were expected to recover.
