Apartment complex attracts crime, neighbors say
Santa Fe Apartment on Blanco ‘magnet’ for criminals
The San Antonio Police Department has responded approximately 200 times to the Santa Fe Apartments for crimes including burglary and assault, according to reports issued Thursday.
Neighbors who live in the few blocks behind the complex were not surprised.
“We fall victim to it because of our proximity,” said one man, who asked not to be identified for fear of retaliation.
He said criminals come and go at all hours of the night, and terrorize people who live near the complex.
“We have to hold our neighborhood watch meetings in secret,” said the man. “If we’re even suspected of talking to the police, we’re viciously retaliated against.”
He said good families have moved out of the neighborhood because of the crime, and has gotten little response from the city for help.
“We’ve reached out multiple times to our city council and haven’t heard back,” said the man.
Requests for comment from Santa Fe Apartment management were not immediately returned.
