First-grader holds garage sale for homeless
Money raised to go to Christian Assistance Ministry programs
Garage sales are meant to get rid of your old stuff, but for Kayli Hernandez, 7, it means so much more.
The San Antonio first-grader is holding her first garage sale in hopes of helping others.
“This looks like a goo-goo baby, and we're selling this,” Kayli said as she was prepping for the sale. “I really want to help the homeless people a lot.”
Kayli and her family will be holding a garage sale this weekend, with proceeds benefitting Christian Assistance Ministry, or CAM.
Kayli's mother says her daughter often asks how she can help the less fortunate.
“She has been around CAM, and that's been a good experience for her, and she sees what a good program it is, and how people do get help,” said Connie Hernandez, Kayli’s mother. “She's also adopted and she has that sense of somebody helped her, so she would like to help others as well.”
Kayli’s garage sale will be at 122 Shearer Hill, from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, March 1, and from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, March 2.
Monetary donations are also welcome.
