SAPD: Drunken driver crashes into poles

Man taken to University Hospital with multiple injuries

A suspected drunken driver was rushed to an area hospital Thursday night after crashing into two poles.

San Antonio police said the accident happened around 11 p.m. on West Hermosa at San Pedro Avenue.

Police said the man, who is believed to be in his 30s, was speeding south on San Pedro when he lost control and hit a pole.

Accident investigators said the man was going so fast that the car ricocheted off the pole and went backwards to hit a second pole.

When police arrived, the man was passed out in the driver's seat and the windows had to be broken to get him out.

He was taken to University Hospital with multiple injuries and is listed in stable condition.

Police said he will probably be facing drunken driving-related charges.

His name has not been released.
