Barbecue fundraiser held to pay for funeral of mother, twin boys

Roxanne Moreno, twin sons died in house fire

SAN ANTONIO - Hundreds of people attended a barbecue fundraiser Saturday to help the family of Roxanne Moreno cover funeral costs for Moreno and her twin sons.

The bodies of Moreno and her 1-year-old twin boys, Daniel and Orlin, were found after a fire destroyed their home in the 8100 block of Old Pearsall Road on Monday.

Investigators believe someone may have been burning trash in the area, and wind gusts of up to 50 miles per hour spread the flames to five homes.

With no home insurance or money for a funeral the woman's family turned to the community for help.

"It's just so gratifying that San Antonio cares, not just in word but in action," said Moreno's cousin Debbie Fonseca. "That's a beautiful thing."

At last check, the fundraiser raised more than $5,000 for the funeral.

Donations were also made to support Moreno's husband and the couple's two daughters.
