The ninth court-martial of a training instructor at Lackland Air Base has been completed.

On Monday, former Air Force military training instructor Staff Sgt. Ryan J. Deraas was sentenced after reaching a pretrial agreement with the government.

Military Judge Lt. Col. Matthew van Dalen sentenced Deraas to three months confinement, reduction from the grade of E-5 (Staff Sergeant) to the grade of E-3 (Airman First Class), and a bad conduct discharge.

Deraas pled guilty to one specification of maltreating basic trainees under his authority, five specifications of unprofessional relationships with technical training students, and two specifications of assault consummated by battery against two basic trainees.
