UTSA baseball player accused of beating track team member

UTSA track team member believes he was beaten by Daniel Rockett because of an ex-girlfriend

A member of the UTSA track team has pointed a finger at several members of the baseball team, saying they’re the men behind a home invasion at his apartment. So far, San Antonio police have arrested only one: Daniel Rockett, 22.

The 21-year-old alleged victim told San Antonio police he and other members of his track team were inside his apartment in the 14300 block of Babcock Road Monday when they heard someone repeatedly knocking on the door and ringing the bell.

He said when he opened the door slightly to tell them to quiet down, four men pushed their way inside and began beating him, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.

The victim said he recognized all of his attackers as members of the UTSA baseball team, the affidavit stated.

Police arrested Rockett on a charge of burglary with the intent to commit assault.
They said the victim told them he believes Rockett was angry because he is dating his ex-girlfriend.

The affidavit did not mention whether any of the other baseball team members might face charges.
