Fire crews battle 2-alarm fire downtown

Abandoned building in 200 block of Broadway goes up in flames

San Antonio fire crews battled a massive downtown two-alarm fire in the 200 block Broadway Wednesday night.

Fire officials said the fire broke out just after 7 p.m. and by 8 p.m., there were 29 units battling the massive blaze.

Sky12 helicopter footage over the scene of the fire showed thick white smoke over the building, which appeared to be abandoned.

People staying at the Travelers Hotel next door were evacuated as a precaution.

Traffic on Broadway near the 4th Street intersection was closed in both directions.

As of 9 p.m., there had been no reports of any injuries.

KSAT has a crew at the scene and is monitoring the situation.
