Bill Miller's BBQ restaurant offers reward for vandal's arrest
Large sign on Hwy 87 offers large reward for information in crimes
The owners of popular fast food chain Bill Miller's BBQ have offered a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of those suspected of stealing farming equipment.
A large sign erected outside the family's property along Highway 87 in China Grove displays the information to passing motorists.
"They had some stuff stolen from their property several times," said Officer Damian Balderas, of the China Grove Police Department. "The last time they did it, they completely broke the entryway gate, and I think that was the straw that broke the camel's back."
The Millers put up the sign not long after that, and it's stood as a warning to thieves for nearly eight months now.
"We've actually noticed a pretty significant drop in vandalism-type crime in the area surrounding their property," Balderas said.
He said the Millers' sign has prompted the small community to keep an eye out, and said the thieves know it.
"They haven't touched that property since the sign went up," said Balderas.
An assistant with the fast food company confirmed the family has received a few calls about the incident, but none prompted any verifiable leads for police.
