Police: Man forged grandfather's checks to buy ring, clothes, PlayStation3
Ryan Bell accused of forging $16,000 worth of checks
LIVE OAK, Texas - Live Oak resident Ryan Bell, 25, is accused of forging some of his grandfather’s checks in order to get his hands on $16,000.
The grandfather contacted police, telling them that while he was out of town during August and September of 2011, Bell cashed four checks against his bank account without his permission.
Police said they found there were two checks in the amount of $1,500; one for $3,000; and one written out for $10,000—all made payable to Bell.
An arrest warrant affidavit stated that Bell admitted to the forgeries in a written statement, saying he used the money to get an apartment, and to buy an engagement right for his girlfriend, a Sony PlayStation 3 and clothes.
An arrest warrant was issued for him in June 2012. He was charged this week with forgery.
