2-alarm fire destroys San Antonio apartment building, displaces 35

8 units at Fox Run Apartments destroyed in fire

A two-alarm fire at a north side apartment complex destroyed a building there, San Antonio fire officials said.

The fire broke out around 3 p.m. on Monday at the Fox Run Apartments in the 10000 block of Broadway.

Building 15 was destroyed in the fire and three other nearby buildings were damaged. Fire investigators said a total of 20 units were affected by the fire.

More than 100 firefighters were called to the scene and San Antonio fire Chief Charles Hood said the record-setting heat during the afternoon made fighting the fire difficult.

No injuries have been reported and there has been no damage estimates as of yet, however arson investigators were called to try and determine the cause of the fire.

Displaced residents will have temporary housing at a sister apartment complex or will stay with friends or family. Additionally, the Red Cross has set up a temporary shelter at St. Matthew's Church for displaced fire victims. They can go there for food, water, and shelter.
