A man robbed a store at gunpoint and left behind a suitcase the San Antonio Bomb Squad had to investigate, authorities say.

It happened on Monday at the Amsterdam Smoke House in the 900 block of South Seguin Street.

Around 1:04 p.m., New Braunfels police said they were dispatched to an aggravated robbery inside the shop.

Police said a surveillance camera captured images of a man who displayed a handgun to the clerk before fleeing the scene with an undetermined amount of money.

Investigators said he left a suitcase in the store and instructed the clerk not to touch it. The San Antonio Bomb Squad said they determined the suitcase was empty.

The suspect is described as a 30-year-old white male, about 5 feet 11 inches tall, 220 pounds, and with black hair.

Investigators said he has facial hair that resembled something close to a goatee. He was wearing a black checkered shirt, blue jeans, gloves and black shoes.

Authorities said the suspect fled the scene in an older model yellow four-door Chrysler. Investigators said the vehicle appeared to be beat up.

Anyone who recognizes the man in the pictures is asked to contact Detective Scott Renken at 830-221-4137 or via email at srenken@nbtexas.org.
