Sex assault reported near San Antonio College
Female student reports being followed by man matching description of suspect
The San Antonio Park Police Department investigated a reported sexual assault Monday morning at San Pedro Park, in the 1300 block of San Pedro.
According to the Alamo Colleges Police Department, that assault occurred between 9 a.m. and 9:15 a.m. and no weapons were involved.
Soon after, a female student at nearby San Antonio College reported to ACPD that a man followed her in the Chance Academic Center, but the man disappeared when she alerted a professor to his presence.
The student's description of the man matched the description of the suspect in the prior sex assault.
“It just kind of reminds me that these kind of things can happen to anyone,” said Syndee Munoz, a student at SAC.
He is described as being Hispanic, with a thin build, and wearing a black T-shirt and blue jeans. Police said he had a tear drop tattoo under his left eye.
“Anytime I get here and it’s dark, I just make sure to walk near people so they can see if something goes wrong,” said Melissa Arroyo, a student at the college.
Anyone who has any information is asked to contact the Alamo Colleges Police Department at 210-485-0099 and request to speak with the assigned investigator to this case.
Campus police issued the following crime prevention tips in the wake of the reports:
· Be aware of your surroundings.
· Immediately report any suspicious persons to the Alamo Colleges Police.
· Use the “buddy” system when walking.
· Request an Alamo Colleges Police safety escort at 485-0099.
