Broken water main may have caused sinkhole
SAWS crew searching for problem
SAN ANTONIO - A water main break could be the cause of a 3 foot hole in the 1200 block of McCullough.
Crews from the San Antonio Water System brought in heavy equipment around 7 Tuesday night to find exactly where the leak was underneath the street.
“They believe it’s a water main break underneath the roadway but they are still diagnosing the problem," Officer Matthew Porter from the San Antonio Police Department said.
The issue forced the 1200 block of McCullough from East Euclid to East Poplar to shut down.
Officers diverted traffic to side roads and SAWS workers temporarily shut water off to the immediate area.
Renee Roberts reported the hole to police. He runs a salon on McCullough and the hole is right across the street from the salon.
“Hopefully they’ll get this done by tomorrow so that I can have customers and do what I got to do to make San Antonio beautiful,” Roberts said.
If you’d like to report a dangerous hole in your area to police, just call 207 – SAPD. They will check it out and get the appropriate city crews to repair it.
