District Attorney Susan Reed: Kaufman County DA killing 'a strike at the system'
Reed: Concerns well-founded, local security more than adequate
SAN ANTONIO - Bexar County District Attorney Susan Reed does not mince words when it comes to the weekend murders of the Kaufman County district attorney and his wife.
“This really is a strike at the fabric of our justice system,” Reed said. “Everybody is on edge, and rightfully so.”
Reed said that her concerns are not just for herself but for her entire staff.
“I want to assure everyone on my staff that, hopefully, we’ve got their backs,” she said.
Reed declined to give any specific information about her security situation except to say that she is very comfortable with things as they are.
She did say that she always carries a gun and always has.
Reed said that security concerns will not stop her from making public appearances or working outside the office.
“Whatever God’s got in store for me, He’s got in store for me,” she said.
