San Antonio Police respond to separate drunken driving accidents
A man with a history of drunken driving is accused of another DWI related incident that injured two people around 11 p.m. Sunday.
San Antonio police said the victims were getting out of a car when the suspected drunken driver struck their vehicle on San Fernando and South Brazos streets just west of downtown.
The suspected drunken driver continued northbound in a pickup truck and was arrested a short time later after he was spotted by an officer running a red light.
San Antonio police arrested the 43-year-old suspect and officers said he had multiple prior DWI arrests. His name had not been released as of 8 a.m. Monday.
The female victim was taken to University Hospital with neck, back and leg injuries. The other victim was treated at the scene by paramedics.
San Antonio police responded to a separate DWI accident around the same time on the Southwest Side.
An officer spotted a pickup truck driving recklessly and began to follow the vehicle.
The driver of the truck began to speed and attempted to flee from the officer.
He lost control of the truck and struck a fence along with two parked cars in front of a house in the 8800 block of Five Palms.
The driver was a man believed to be in his 20s. Police said he was not injured and expected to face DWI charges.
